Description
Ceftiofur is a cephalosporin antibiotic with bactericidal activity against both gram-positive and gramnegative bacteria.
Indications
For the treatment of bacterial infections in cattle and swine caused by micro-organisms susceptible to ceftiofur, especially:
Cattle: bacterial respiratory disease associated with P. haemolytica, P. multocida & H. somnus; acute interdigital necrobacillosis (panaritium, foot rot) associated with F. necrophorum and B. melaninogenicus; bacterial component of acute post-partum (puerperal) metritis within 10 days of calving associated with E.coli, A. pyogenes & F. necrophorum, sensitive to ceftiofur. Swine: bacterial respiratory disease associated with H. pleuropneumoniae, P. multocida, S. choleraesuis & S. suis.
Dosage and administration
For subcutaneous (cattle) or intramuscular (cattle, swine) administration.
Shake well before use to resuspend.
Cattle:1 ml per 50 kg body weight per day.
For respiratory disease on 3 – 5 consecutive days; for footrot on 3 consecutive days; for metritis on 5 consecutive days.
Swine:1 ml per 16 kg body weight per day on 3 consecutive days.
Do not inject intravenously!Do not employ in subtherapeutic dose!
Contraindications
Should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity (allergy) to atropine, in patients with jaundice or internal obstruction.
Adverse Reactions (frequency and seriousness).
Anticholinergic effects may be expected to continue into the recovery phase from anaesthesia.
Withdrawal period
Meat: 3 days.
Milk: 0 days.

Store in a cool and dry place, protect from light.
